September 10, 2025, General Meeting Minutes

PRESIDENT – Steve Sharkey, 1st VICE PRESIDENT – Joseph Keber,

2nd VICE PRESIDENT – Pat Trombetta, TREASURER – Joseph Cafaro,

SECRETARY – Joseph Onuska

 

 Steve Sharkey called the general meeting of the WTSBC to order at the Woodbridge Community Center at 1:34 PM, with an attendance of sixty-two active members, which is a quorum. Attendance sheet attached.

Pledge of Allegiance: - Lou Algaze Led the pledge to the flag.

A moment of silence in remembrance of our recently deceased former member, Jim Nolan and all that died 24 years ago tomorrow on 9/11.

Officer Roll Call:  Joseph Onuska - All Officers are present.

Secretary’s Report: Joe O.: Steve Sharkey made a request for a motion to dispense with the reading of the minutes. A motion made by John Barkowski, seconded by Bill Vaughn, and approved unanimously.

Treasurer's Report: - Joe Cafaro reported there is $2,729.19 in the account. Report Attached

Fall Picnic Date – 9/18/25 time 1:00pm till 6:00pm there are eighty guests signed up for the picnic. The cost is $10.00 for members and $15 for guests. The picnic will be at Pelzman Park.

Membership/Orientation - Joe Keber stated that there are three applicants on the waiting list. The club welcomed two new members, Michael Baum and Carolyn Lyman.

Fellowship – John Borkowski read a list of members that the committee has sent cards to or spoken to and those that are in the hospital. Report Attached.

Maintenance/Supplies – Steve Jimenez & Tom McHale: No Report. Steve asked the members not to place their drinks near the tables.

Water/Soda - Angel Rodriguez & Peter Aleo No Report.

Tournaments/Fundraisers

1.    Tournament Committee Update – Wayne Collins

2.    Founding Fathers: Tournament – September 15th – 26thJoe Oom 1/8/26 to 4/2/26.

Triple Play: Joe O. The October triple play has been canceled the next Triple play will be on November 19th. Signup sheets will be available on October 14th.

Hospitality – Steve thanked Christina Malangone & Ed Vasquez for setting up the snacks and John Borkowski’s wife for baking the cake.

Michael DeGiavani Foodbank Fundraiser - Wayne kicked off the food bank fundraiser by thanking the members for their support in the past and explaining where the money goes. If you want to donate you can place your donation in the lockbox on the club table with your name and what the money is for attached, or you can mail your donation to Joe Cafaro at 108 Avignon Road, Monroe, NJ 08831.

Public Relations: Pat reported that there were 1400 people signed up for the Olympics and over four hundred of those were for pickleball. Pat also reported that there was only one pickleball player from Woodbridge. Pat said that he will talk to the mayor about having clinics to teach pickleball to Woodbridge residents. Pat also thanked the members that helped make the Senion Olympics an enormous success.

Audit – Ellen Wortman Phil Degliomini: No Report.

Bylaws – Wayne Collins: Wayne read an amendment A3 Section 2 that will be voted on at our next meeting raising the annual dues to $72.00.

Ethics – Wayne Collins: No Report.

Website – Ron Blackwell: No Report.

Club Apparel – Rob Jenkins Johanna Calamusa, Pat Murphy: No Report. A catalog is upstairs if anyone needs to order any clothing.

  

Floor Open/Q&A Jerry Granato acknowledged the Board for doing an excellent job.

There was an announcement for the “costume optional” Senior Bar-B-Que at the Woodbridge Community Center on October 7th. The price is $8.00 per person.

The WTSBC will hold its own costume party in our room at 1:00pm on October 31st. Prizes will be awarded.

Lou Algaze said that they could use more volunteer workers at the food bank.

 

Motion to Adjourn made by Bob Kazimir and seconded by Andy Mudrak at 3:02 p.m. was approved unanimously.
