March 12, 2025, General Meeting Minutes

PRESIDENT – Steve Sharkey, (1st VICE PRESIDENT – Joseph Keber excused),

2nd VICE PRESIDENT – Pat Trombetta, TREASURER – Joseph Cafaro,

SECRETARY – Joseph Onuska

 

 Steve Sharkey called the general meeting of the WTSBC to order at the Woodbridge Community Center at 1:30 PM, with an attendance of forty-four active members which is a quorum. Attendance sheet attached.

Pledge of Allegiance: - Lou Algaze Led the pledge to the flag.

A moment of silence in remembrance of all our deceased members.

Officer Roll Call: Joseph Onuska - Four Officers are present. Joseph Keber,

2nd VICE PRESIDENT excused.

Check presentation: Wayne Collins presented Peter Barcellona from the Woodbridge “We Feed Woodbridge” foodbank check for $2,050.00 on behalf of the club. Peter thanked the club for their generosity in supporting the food bank that helps feed over 1400 local families. Wayne also thanked the club and mentioned the members of the club that work at the foodbank. Steve thanked Wayne for spearheading the campaign.

Secretary’s Report: Joe O.: Steve Sharkey made a request for a motion to dispense with the reading of the minutes. A motion made by Mike Talty, seconded by Bob Kazimir, and approved unanimously.

Treasurer's Report: - Joe Cafaro reported there is $4,909.25 in the account. Report Attached

Steve asked Lou Algaze to address the membership: Lou thanked the members for all the cards, letters, and phone calls he received during his illness.

President's Report: Steve welcomed the members to the meeting and announced the Birthday and Anniversary lists for March. We currently have ninety active and twelve inactive members. Room attendance for March averaged 30-32 on weekdays and 15-16 on weekends. We mentioned that we are still looking for more new members.

St. Patrick’s Day Parade: Harry Witt – Thanked the membership for their support of the parade and announced that the club won “Most Unique Best Float” for their participation. Harry thanked the individuals that helped on the committee, and that participated during the parade. Steve S. showed the add that the club bought for the American Irish Association Donation book.

 

 Committee Updates:

Membership/Orientation - There are five applicants on the waiting list, three of which we will interview later this month.

Fellowship – John Borkowski read a list of members that the committee has sent cards to or spoken to and those that are in the hospital. Report Attached.

Maintenance/Supplies – Steve Jimenez & Lou Algaze: No Report. Steve Jimenez reported that Tom McHale and Manny Valles will be taking care of the room while he is on vacation.

Water/Soda - No Report.

Tournaments/Fundraisers

9-Ball – Season 11 tarts on March 25th.

Tripple Play: The next triple play is on May 21st. Sign-up sheets will go out April 11th.

League matches. Lou Algaze / Ron Blackwell: Union and Ewing will have a playoff game this Thursday. Lou told the league members that played last season that their statistics for the season are on the board.

League Teams. The Contenders team have been playing exhibition games with other league teams and is anxiously waiting for the next season to start. Our in-house 8-ball league teams will have an exhibition game on March 27th at 10:00am.

The Ladies Day Tournament will be on April 5th. Steve read the message sent out by Judy Kazimir asking the ladies of the club to come out and have fun. There are currently two ladies who have signed up.

The In-House Doubles Tournament will be on August 20th.

The Doubles League is now set for July 22nd.

Member/Relative tournament will be on April 12th.

Hospitality – Christina Malangone/Ed Vasquez: Steve thanked Christina and Ed for setting up the snacks and coffee and John Borkowski’s wife for making the delicious crumb cake.

CPR - Wayne Collins: No Report.

Audit – Ellen Wortman/Phill Degliomini: No Report.

Bylaws – Wayne Collins: No Report.

Ethics – Wayne Collins: No Report.

Captains – Ron Blackwell: No Report.

Website – Ron Blackwell: No Report.

Club Apparel – Rob Jenkins, Johanna Calamusa, Pat Murphy: No Report. A catalog is upstairs if anyone needs to order any clothing.

Old Business: No Report.

New BusinessNo Report.

Floor Open/Q&A Nick Billis suggested that we set up a trip to Atlantic City.

Motion to Adjourn made by Bob Kazimir and seconded by Peter Aleo at 2:18 p.m. and approved unanimously.
