 Steve Sharkey called the general meeting of the WTSBC to order at the Woodbridge Community Center at 1:33 PM, with an attendance of sixty-two active members, which is a quorum. Please confirm your emergency contact information is correct with Joe Onuska. Attendance sheet attached.

  Pledge of Allegiance: - Lou Algaze Led the pledge to the flag.

Please remain standing for a moment of silence in honor and memory of all those members who passed away in 2025 – Steve (PC Deb, Michael Spoon, Stuart Brandow, Walter Satre, Jim Nolan, and Dennis Tsirkos.)

Greetings/Agenda  -- Steve welcomed the members and thanked them for coming.

 

Presentations:

 

Ø 9 Ball Awards, Season 12 – The Predators – Joe Keber handed out awards to the Predators for taking first place during the 9-ball league.

Ø Pin Awards – Ron Blackwell handed out pin awards earned during the 9-ball league. There have been 99 - 9 on the break awards to date.

 

Secretary’s Report: Joe O.: Steve Sharkey made a request for a motion to dispense with the reading of the December 10th minutes. A motion was made and seconded and approved unanimously.

 

Ø Treasurer's Report: - Joe Cafaro reported there is $6,736.99 in the account. Report Attached

Ø Holiday Party Update – Our annual holiday party at Dominic’s Restaurant, is scheduled for January 21, 2026, from 1 to 5 pm. There are eighty-two signed up. Do not forget to bring your own booze.

 

President's Report: Steve welcomed the members and announced the Birthday and Anniversary lists for January. We currently have ninety-five active and twelve inactive Honorary members. Carol DePietro has resigned from the club and John Vitali has been moved to the inactive honorary list both due to continued medical conditions. Room attendance for December averaged thirty-one on weekdays and sixteen on weekends.

 

Club Accomplishments for 2025: Each of the board members read a section of the report. (Report attached.)

 

Club Outlook for 2026 – Steve: To improve and enhance the club website, continue to have our fundraises and to reinstate the Ladies Day tournament.

 

Have-a-Heart Fundraiser Kick-off – Wayne Collins announced the start of the Have-a-Heart Fundraiser for 2026. Each township organization has been asked to contribute 214 pounds of food or $214.00 to the drive. The drive will culminate in mid-February.

 

Committee Updates

 

Membership/New Members/Waiting List – Joe K. welcomed new member Mathew Mahon to the club. There are five applicants waiting to obtain membership, we welcomed fifteen new members in 2025.

 

Fellowship – John Borkowski read a list of members that the committee has sent cards to or spoken to and those that are in the hospital. Report Attached.

 

Room Maintenance/Supplies – Steve Jimenez, Tom McHale & Bob Cedrone. (No Report.)

 

Water/Soda - Angel Rodriguez & Peter Aleo Handed over $80.00 in donations. The price of soda is now $1.00; the price of water remains unchanged at 50 cents.

 

Tournaments/Events:

Tournament Committee Update – Wayne Collins: Everyone that had a tier change by the tournament committee has been notified. The Nolan tournament is scheduled from March 9th till March 20th.

 

9 Ball League, Season 13 Update, 3/31 to 6/17 – Joe K. stated the sheets for the tournament will be available on February 14th and collected on March 21st. There will be a captains’ meeting on March 27th to draft the teams, and the league will start on March 31st.

 

CJSBL Travel Teams Update  

John Borkowski – The Warriors have six wins and two losses and are tied with Piscataway. Their next game is scheduled for next Thursday against Piscataway at home.

 

Evelyn Mercado – The Contenders have two wins and six losses. Their next game is scheduled for next Thursday at South Brunswick.

 

Triple Play Day – Feb. 18th…new format – Joe K. described the changes being made to the Triple Play team formation. The sign-up sheets will be available today and collected on February 14th. The league teams will no longer be used for the Triple Play. The teams will be drafted by the captains after February 14th.

 

The 20th Annual Nolan Memorial Tournament will start on 3/9/26 – Joe O. - The games will be played by teams in reverse order. Tier 3 will play on Mondays March 9th and 16th, tier two on Tuesdays March 10th and 17th, tier four on Wednesdays March 11th and 18th, tier 1-B on Thursdays March 12th and 19th, and tier 1-A on Fridays March 13th and 20th. As in the past few tournaments, if there is not enough participation in tier four, they will have the option of playing in tier three. If they win, place or show in tier three they will receive a trophy for that position in tier four.

 

Sunday Straight Pool Day – John Kunie/Bob Wardlow: Bob noted low interest, likely due to the holiday season. The sessions will continue to be available, and we will monitor their progress.

 

Ladies Day Tournament Status -  Joe O.: Carolyn has been talking to the veteran women of the club, and they are looking for a tournament in the spring. Joe O. will assist in the setup.

 

Hospitality – Christina Malangone/Ed Vasquez- Steve thanked Carolyn Lyman and Ed Vasquez for preparing the refreshments and coffee and John Borkowski’s wife Dorathea for making the crumb cake.

 

Public Relations/Table Maintenance – Pat: Bob Wardlow announced that several members got together and contributed funds to purchase a 9-foot table to replace one of our 8-foot tables. The new table is scheduled to be installed next Wednesday January 21st. The table will replace table 2 but will be placed where table 1 is now. The current table 1 will be moved to position two and table 2 will be donated to the WCC. The WCC will replace one of their tables in the foyer and donate it to the Accacia Youth Center. Contributors were Charlie Arce, Bob Cedrone, Dr. Mike Baum, Jim Di’Mico, Wayne Collins, Marty Wiley, John Kunie, Steve Jimenez, Bill Vauhjn, Jerry Compasto, Carl Mench, John Borkowski. Angel Rodriguez, and Bob Wardlow. The room will be closed on Wednesday January 21 for the move.

     

Audit – Phil Degliomini/Tom McHale have finished their review of our club finances and have once again rated the audit as “Excellent.” (Report attached.)

 

Club Apparel – Rob Jenkins/Johannah Calamusa/Pat Murphy - Rob informed the new members that there is a red binder in the club room with a list of options of apparel that can be purchased and a form in the back of the binder to be filled out with what you want to order. There is also a box in the room that has sample shirts you can try on for size.

Ethics – Tom Tsirikos Is pleased to report there is (No report)

 

CaptainsJoe Keber let the new members know that they need to be placed in a tier before they can participate in any league, triple play, or tournament. There is no rush to be evaluated but when they are ready, they need to contact him, and he will set up an evaluation.
