Ethics Committee
Woodbridge Senior Billiards Club (WSBC)
The Role and Responsibilities of the Ethics Committee with Regards
to the “Code of Conduct” The “Code of Conduct” was established
to ensure that all members of the Woodbridge Township Senior
Billiards Club may enjoy their time playing pool and socially
interacting with other Club members in a safe, orderly, and civil
environment without disruption or interference from any other
individual(s).
The Club’s Executive Board recognizes the need to clarify its
expectations for acceptable conduct, identify the possible
consequences for unacceptable conduct, and ensure that discipline,
when necessary, is administered promptly and fairly.
In short, all members are expected to exhibit appropriate behavior
at all times. Such things as common courtesy, respect for others,
and friendly communication are essential in order to maintain a
positive environment for all members.
Article 3, Section 8 of the Club’s By-Laws states that “All members
of the Woodbridge Township Senior Billiards Club must comply with
the principles and provisions outlined in the Club’s Code of Conduct
at all times when participating in all Club related activities and
events. Any member who violates any provision of this Code is
subject to disciplinary action imposed by the Club’s Executive
Board.”
When a specific violation(s) of the Code of Conduct is reported to
or observed by an Ethics Committee or Executive Board member, the
Ethics Committee will be asked to conduct a thorough review of the
incident/offensive behavior. This will include meeting with the
individual(s) whose behavior was reported to be in violation of the
Code of Conduct and, where necessary, interviewing witnesses to the
incident or offensive behavior.
Upon the completion of the investigative review, the Ethics
Committee will make a recommendation to the Executive Board
regarding disciplinary action. The Executive Board will consider the
Ethics Committee’s recommendation and will make the final
determination as to the specific disciplinary action to be taken
against the Club member(s). Such disciplinary action will be
expressly communicated to the member(s) by the President of the
Club.
If a member is suspended from the Club, he/she will be excluded from
all Club activities for a period of time determined by the Executive
Board.
Upon the completion of the individual’s suspension from the Club,
he/she will be required to attend a reinstatement meeting with the
Ethics Committee. At this meeting, the Ethics Committee members will
review the circumstances or events which led to the suspension and
make it absolutely clear that a repeat of the particular violation,
or any other violation of the Club’s Code of Conduct, may result in
a lengthier suspension or termination from the Club.
Once the individual (s) has been officially reinstated by the Ethics
Committee, all of the rights and privileges enjoyed by Club members
in good standing will be restored.

Things All Members
Should Know To Keep A Harmonious Atmosphere
1. Remember, we are all here for the love of the game. So lets have
a good time!
2. Proper opening and closing procedure of billiard room. Check the
defibrillator and if you can’t see that it is working, ask the next
member to check it.
3. Sign the attendance sheet, in & out. This helps to ensure the use
of the room and how many people utilize it.
4. Jackets hung on coat rack not on chairs
5. Proper folding and storing of table cover. Please cover tables
that are not in use.
6. If there are a lot of people playing pool and a table is closed,
ask if it’s okay to open the table to practice.
7. Clean up empty bottles or debris not thrown away.
8. Clean tables when needed before or after playing on it.
9. On tournament dates, if you play at night, leave tables the way
you found them. Meaning, if the balls are racked, leave it that way
before covering table.
10. If you’re alone and need to leave the poolroom, make sure you
lock the doors to secure room.
11. Avoid wearing any clothing with writing or pictures on it that
may be offensive to anyone.
12. While opponent is shooting, be considerate- don’t be close to
the table – stay out of the way and not in line with the shots.
13. When ready to brake, allow the opponent enough time to put the
rack back and get out of the way.
14. Absolutely NO gambling
15. If a member is doing something not within the rules or the
bylaws of the club, the person telling them should do so in a
diplomatic manner.
16. Please represent this club with the respect and dignity that it
deserves.
